Early Monday, Israeli Border Police shot and killed a gunman who opened fire on them during an operation in Kalandiya, located in the West Bank.
According to a joint report from the IDF and Israel Police, the assailant jumped out of a vehicle and targeted the unit with a scoped M-16 rifle.
The officers fired back immediately, killing the man at the scene. No members of the Israeli security forces were wounded, and the rifle was seized following the skirmish.
Military officials described the unit’s reaction as rapid and effective. Border Police Commander Brig. Gen.
Yitzhak Barak commended the officers for their professional conduct, noting that they handled the threat exactly as trained.
He emphasized that anyone attempting to harm security personnel would face similar consequences.
This clash occurs amid a period of heightened friction and frequent Israeli security raids across the West Bank.
