US President Donald Trump abruptly canceled plans to attend his son Donald Trump Jr.’s wedding and returned to Washington on Friday, citing unspecified “circumstances pertaining to the government.”

Trump said he had wanted to attend the wedding in the Bahamas but needed to remain at the White House during what he described as “historic moments.”

The decision came amid growing tensions surrounding negotiations with Iran. During a speech in New York, Trump said the conflict with Iran “will be over soon” and hinted at possible developments without providing details.

According to Axios, Trump met with senior security officials before departing and was briefed on diplomatic and military options related to Iran.

The report added that the administration could consider military action if talks fail to produce a breakthrough soon.
