Negotiations between Israel and Lebanon are progressing toward a potential deal connecting an Israeli military pullout from southern Lebanon to the disarmament of Hezbollah. According to Israel’s public broadcaster KAN, the CIA drafted a strategy to dismantle the weapons infrastructure of the Iran-backed militant group.

US-led mediation continues between Beirut and Jerusalem to resolve the ongoing border conflict. Diplomatic teams from both nations plan to meet for another round of discussions on Friday.

A US State Department official called the previous day’s talks “productive and positive.” The proposed framework suggests the IDF would withdraw from Lebanese territory.

In return, Lebanon would ensure Hezbollah’s military assets are either dismantled or transferred to state control. This has been a primary Israeli requirement since border hostilities intensified during Operation Roaring Lion.

Active combat continues despite these diplomatic advancements. Army Radio reported that the IDF launched overnight airstrikes in southern Lebanon following rocket fire aimed at Kiryat Shmona. The Israeli military confirmed it hit the specific rocket launcher and destroyed extra Hezbollah facilities.

These events highlight the sharp contrast between ongoing battlefield operations and urgent peace talks.
